
REFORMATION SUNDAY SERVICE
A Special Downtown Lutheran Reformation Service will be held at Historic Trinity Lutheran Church on Sunday, October 28, 2007. We are pleased to have The Rev. Dr. David Maier preach in the 8:15, 9:30 & 11:00 services. There will be special music by the Historic Trinity Cathedral Choir. The Church's caterer presents a reception following each of the Worship Services. Participate in this special opportunity for worship at Historic Trinity Lutheran Church, the Mother Church of Detroit Lutheranism. See the Reformation items at Historic Trinity; the Luther Tower, the copy of Dr. Martin Luther's handwriting, the murals on the Reformation, the Book on Luther's Works from the 1700's, and the 1662 Nuernberg Bible - the second translation of Luther's Bible in the German language.

REFORMATION PREACHER
We are so very pleased to welcome Rev. David P.E. Maier as the guest preacher for Reformation Sunday. Rev. David P. E. Maier, the youngest of two sons, was born on May 8, 1956, to Dr. Walter A. Jr. and Leah Maier. His grandfather was the sainted Walter A. Maier, the Lutheran Hour founder. Rev. Maier received his B.A. from Concordia College in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with a double major in Biblical Languages and Christian Doctrine. Attending Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, he served his vicarage year at West Portal Lutheran Church in San Francisco in 1980. Two days prior to leaving for his vicarage, he was married on July 19, 1980, to Patricia Kemmerling. Their marriage has been blessed with four children: Leah(22); Joel(19); James(18); and Hannah(14). Rev. Maier has served as a Mission Pastor at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marlette, Michigan; as a Minister of Youth at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights, Illinois; as Head Pastor at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights, Illinois; and as Senior Pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Lansing, Michigan, since December of 1989. Rev. Maier frequently speaks at youth and men's gatherings, retreats, and many times as a Dean at Camp Arcadia in Arcadia, Michigan. He has served as a Circuit Counselor, Chairman of the Circuit Counselors for the Michigan District, and presently serves the Michigan District LCMS as its First Vice-President. He looks forward to serving the Lord in whatever capacity he is directed, for his remaining years.
